Any United States retiree with an Early Retirement Age retirement could collect the next Social Security check in February 2023. While it is true that there is a requirement to collect the immediately following Social Security check, it doesn’t matter. This does not mean that retirees who do not meet this requirement will not collect their February check.
Within days of this second month of 2023, retirees will collect their Social Security check on the second, third or fourth Wednesday of the month. It all depends on one’s date of birth. To be exact, the next group to collect the benefit will be retirees born between the 1st and 10th of the month.
The Social Security collection day for this group of retirees is the 8th of February, the second Wednesday of the month. On the other hand, it is also important to remember that it does not matter what type of retirement a retiree has in order to access the cheque. The only important piece of information is the exact day of birth. Thus, anyone born between the 1st and 10th will receive the benefit on the 8th day of February.
Other Social Security payments in February 2023
In addition to this payment for retirees born between the first ten days of the month, the Social Security Administration will send out several other different payments next February.
- February 1. Social Security Supplemental Security Income (SSI) payment. This payment is for all beneficiaries on the same day.
- February 15th. This is the third Wednesday of the month and retirees born between the 11th and 20th of the month will collect their Social Security check.
- February 22nd. Fourth and last Wednesday of the month. This is also the last day of retirement benefit payments. The group of retirees with birthdays between the 21st and 31st of the month receive cheques on this day.
The retiree can be born in any month. It is not mandatory that he/she was born in the month of the payment. Therefore, a pensioner born in January will receive his Social Security in January as well as in February, April, July or August. In short, every month of the year.
How to maximize the retirement benefit?
Only in the case of collecting an age-based retirement benefit in the future can we maximize it. If we have already started collecting Social Security retirement, it is difficult to increase the monthly cheques.
However, if we have a good retirement plan well in advance, we will get a higher benefit. To do this we need to work for at least 35 years, have a good salary and delay the retirement age as much as possible.
In short, if we control these three aspects we will end up with a good monthly cheque from Social Security to enjoy the golden years in the best possible way.
