Yet there are many retirees who are unclear about when they will receive their monthly cheque. For that reason, we must learn well what day we will collect our Social Security cheque. Knowing this, it is very possible that we will be able to organize our family economy in a better way.

However, we must also keep in mind that there may be delays in payments. It is not common for the Social Security Administration to send checks to pensioners late, but it is something that can happen. In any case, we should make sure that our payday is the day we think it will be, since we could be wrong about this.

Let’s first see which days pensioners are paid in order to determine the calendar appropriately.

  • 2nd Wednesday in January. 11th day of the month. On this day retirees born between the 1st and 10th cashed their cheque.
  • 3rd Wednesday of January. 18th day of the month. Pensioners born between the 11th and 20th of the month received their Social Security.
  • 4th Wednesday of January. 25th day of the month. The SSA sends cheques on this day to pensioners born between the 21st and 31st of the month.

It usually takes up to 3 days for the money to appear in the bank account. If we activate Direct Deposit, the money arrives immediately. For this reason, it is a good idea to have this collection method activated. Now that you know what day you should have cashed your cheque, you can determine whether or not you should contact Social Security.

Contacting the SSA

You can contact the Social Security Administration by telephone. By calling 1-800-772-1213 between 8:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m., you can contact the SSA. – 7:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Another option for contacting the SSA is to go to the nearest local office. Regardless of the method you choose, the workers will be happy to answer any questions you may have about Social Security payments.

Before contacting Social Security, however, you should make sure that your retirement check is not late. Always wait at least one week after SSA sends your payment.
