In just a few days the first of the Social Security payments will arrive to homes in the United States. However, this check will not reach all American homes, since in order to receive the new Social Security payment it is mandatory to meet certain requirements. In this sense, only a specific group of Americans can have the next retirement check in their pockets.
In addition to this, it should also be noted that retirement checks do not reach all Americans on the same day. Aside from having to be part of the group of retirees receiving the next check, the method chosen to collect Social Security changes a lot on the day the money is received. So we must meet not just one condition to get the next check on time, but two.
In short, in order to get the next check we must belong to the group that collects the new Social Security, which is the first one in June, and activate the fastest collection method. With only these two requirements, in just a few days we will have the money in our pocket to be able to use it for whatever we need and want. Are you part of the next group that will cash the retirement check?
Who will receive the next Social Security check?
The Social Security Administration divides retirement beneficiaries into several different groups. Within this classification, there are two major groups. These large groups have a clear distinction between them and this distinction is related to the year of retirement. The first of these groups is the one that will receive the next of the checks.
In order to receive the next retirement check, it is mandatory to have applied for the benefit before 1997. This is the only requirement for the Administration to send us the check in the next few days. Neither the type of retirement nor the age of retirement is important to belong to this group. The only relevant information is to have applied for retirement before that year.
What is the next retirement payment date?
The day you receive your next retirement payment will depend on several factors. Depending on the method of collection, the check may arrive on one day or on a different day. With this in mind, you should know that Direct Deposit is the fastest way to get your Social Security checks. And it doesn’t matter what type of check you get from the Administration, as Supplemental Security Income will also be cashed faster this way.
With that in mind, here are the approximate days to collect this benefit:
- With Direct Deposit activated: on June 2, all retirees who choose this collection method will have their check.
- Without Direct Deposit, receiving the money with a classic transfer: The money may reach the pockets of the Americans in this group between the 5th and the 7th of the month. This is due to the fact that there is a weekend in between, as the 2nd day is Friday.
The choice of collection method is entirely optional. However, we must keep in mind that the Social Security Administration will send the checks on the 2nd of the month and with Direct Deposit we will get the money directly and without waiting.
