Social Security Administration checks for United States retirees are unique and individual. Each United States citizen who has a retirement benefit has a different check because it is based on work history. For that reason, since it is impossible for two people to work the exact same amount, each Social Security check is totally different.
In addition to this, there are other different checks that the Administration may send to citizens. These other checks are only for a small group of Americans, but many may have them. Moreover, many of the Americans who have access to this extra Social Security payment do not apply for it because they do not know about it.
We are talking about the Supplemental Security Income benefit. This payment is for the neediest citizens that many do not know they can apply for. Once we start collecting this benefit, it will be paid monthly into the pockets of the beneficiaries. Check the requirements to apply for it and get extra money if you meet the conditions.
Who can apply for this extra Social Security benefit?
The monthly Supplemental Security Income checks have restrictive eligibility requirements. Not all Americans can apply for this payment. However, many of the retirees and citizens who can apply do not know that they qualify. In order to qualify for this payment, you must meet the following requirements:

- Be at least 65 years old or have a recognized disability.
- Have a low monthly income and low economic resources.
Regarding the first requirement, the idea is quite clear. The Social Security Administration will only pay this check to those citizens who are over 65 years of age or have a disability. It is not necessary to meet both requirements at the same time.
On the other hand, the second requirement is a little more difficult to control. For this reason, the Administration has made the Best Tool application available to everyone. By asking a few questions, we can find out in a few minutes if we have access to Supplemental Security Income.
When are Supplemental Security Income payments made?
The Social Security Administration sends out a check for Supplemental Security Income every month, with some exceptions. The payment is sent on the 1st of the month. Whether or not you receive it on the same day depends on whether or not you have Direct Deposit as your payment method.
In months in which the 1st is a weekend or holiday, the Administration pays Supplemental Security Income on the immediately preceding business day. For this reason, in some months the beneficiaries of this check have two payments.
Even so, when this irregularity exists, the Social Security Administration does not send an extra check, but advances it. So we don’t have a month with double the amount of money, but we have it in advance.
