The last time in September to get your United States Social Security retiree benefit is this week. The fourth week of September is the last week that the SSA sends out benefits. In addition to this, the Social Security Administration also sends out the first of the October calendar payments in these days. This exceptional situation has an explanation. Even so, you should know that if you receive SSI payments, you will not receive this benefit directly during the month of October.
Even so, there is nothing to worry about, since the same payment will be made in September and you will receive it without any problem. Depending on whether you have activated Direct Deposit or not, you will be able to receive this amount on September 30 or you will have to wait a few days and receive it in October. In any case, the important thing is that you will be able to receive this money to be able to pay your bills and anything else you need to pay.
Last payments of Social Security in September
The day for these last payments is Wednesday and Friday of the same week. In other words, the Social Security Administration will send the payments on September 28 and September 30. Even so, it should be noted that not all benefits are the same. On the 28th is the payment of retirement and disability benefits, while on the 30th the SSA sends out SSI payments.
In addition to this, it should also be noted that not all retirement beneficiaries will receive the money this week. Only a group of them will be able to have the money. The rest of the pensioners should already have the money in their bank account. That is because this is the last payment of the month. The particular group is people born between the 21st and 31st of the month. If you were born on an earlier day, your retirement was sent on the second or third Wednesday of the month.
SSA Payment Schedule
The Social Security Administration’s payment schedule always follows the same pattern. For this reason, the following schedule will be helpful:
Retirement or disability benefit payments:
- Second Wednesday of the month. Payment for persons born between the 1st and 10th of the month.
- Third Wednesday of the month. On this day the Social Security Administration sends payment to persons born between the 11th and 20th.
- Fourth Wednesday of the month. Last retirement or disability pension payment of the month. This is for people born between the 21st and 31st.
SSI payments:
- First day of the month: SSI payments are always made on the 1st of the month.
- Last working day of the month: This day is on the calendar exceptionally. Social Security sends SSI on the last working day of the month when the 1st of the following month is a holiday or weekend.
Even if you have a retirement or disability benefit and SSI at the same time, the payment days are different. So the retirement subsidy schedule goes on one side and the SSI schedule goes on the other. So don’t expect to get both benefits at the same time. Still, there are times when retirees can receive this payment the same week.
In this sense, this week they receive double payment, since on the 28th many pensioners will collect their Social Security and on the 30th the SSA sends the SSI payment, so this very exceptional situation occurs.
