Banks announce new SSI payment for March 31 “extra check”

Social Security update: millions of Americans receive direct payments of up to $4,555 in 16 days

Only these Americans will get the Social Security Disability Income on April 3rd

If you live in the United States and receive a Social Security benefit every month, you know perfectly well that sometimes it is insufficient. It is always a good idea to have a different source of income, as it will make life easier. If not, you can always check to see if you are eligible for one of the other benefits from the Social Security Administration.

Keep in mind that these benefits are not for everyone. They have very particular requirements, but if you meet them you can feel a lot of relief in your wallet. In addition to these three types of Social Security extras, there are also other types of extras. It should also be noted that we can stretch our benefit by moving to another state or by obtaining different sources of income.

People who can apply for extra Social Security

There are two types of people in particular who can access extra money from Social Security. Although it is true that the final benefit is the same for both cases, access is different.  These are the two groups of people who can access extra money with SSA:

  • Seniors 65 and older with low income: If you are 65 or older and have a low source of income, you may be able to apply for Supplemental Security Income (SSI). SSI benefits help people with low earning power that are collecting Social Security benefits. You need to be below a three percent threshold to qualify for this benefit. The maximum SSI benefit is $841 for a single person and $1261 for a couple.

  • People with disabilities: In this case, age does not matter. Both people with disabilities and blind people can apply for SSI without being 65 years old. This is one of the great advantages of applying for Social Security with a disability. The requirements are the same as for those over 65, except for age. Therefore, you cannot have a large source of income if you want to apply for this SSA benefit.
