In the United States, one of the best things about starting to collect a Social Security Disability or Age Retirement benefit is the timeliness of payments. Thanks to the calendar that the Social Security Administration has set up, we can always know when we will receive the next disability retirement check. This makes it much easier to stay organized at home, since we can know well in advance on what day we will have our money available.
Still, keep in mind that not all disability retirees receive their benefits on the same day. In order to know on which calendar date we will receive our Social Security check we are going to have to take into account several different elements. The first of these elements is related to the requirements to be able to know on which day we will receive our monthly check.
The second element is the collection method itself. Each time we receive our Social Security disability check we may have it in our pocket sooner or later depending on the collection method we choose. If we choose the fastest collection method we will have the money immediately every month.
Who gets the next disability benefit check?
The Social Security Administration separates groups of disability retirees into 4 different groups. Each of these groups collects their retirement benefit on a different day. It does not matter the type of retirement in determining who gets a check. What is important in this case is two elements:
- Year of retirement.
- Day of birth.
Retirees are divided into two major groups. The first of these groups is composed of beneficiaries prior to 1997. This group is always the first to receive their benefits, since they are usually paid on the 3rd day of the month, with some exceptions.
Social Security payment
The second major group is the post-1997 retirees. This group is paid on three different days, i.e., it is divided into three smaller groups. The next of the checks is for the first of these three groups.
So disability or age retirees who want to collect the next check must meet the following requirements:
- Have retirement after 1997.
- Have a birthday between the 1st and 10th of the month.
If we meet these requirements, the check will reach our pocket. In addition to that, the cashing method also makes it possible for us to receive the check as soon as possible. In order to have the money immediately in your pocket at the time the Social Security Administration sends it, Direct Deposit must be activated.
Any citizen with Direct Deposit activated can receive Social Security payments, regardless of disability or not, instantly. In addition, Supplemental Security Income checks arrive without having to wait a day thanks to this collection method.
