24 hours to get the new Supplemental Security Income (SSI) Social Security check

Pensioners with a Social Security age or disability retirement benefit in the United States could receive a new check in just a few days. This new check is not for all retirees, but only for a group of retirees. To find out if you will receive the next Social Security check in January 2023 just check your date of birth.

With the birthday we can find out directly if SSA will send us a new wcheck on the 11th of January. This is the first of the retirement or disability payments from Social Security in 2023. Only retirees born between the 1st and 10th of any month can receive this new payment from SSA.

The birthday is the only information that matters. The month of the year in which the retiree was born does not matter. In this sense, a senior born in January can receive his or her benefit in June, May and all other months. This is really important to understand that Social Security payments reach all retirees regardless of their month of birth. When will you receive your Social Security benefit?

Schedule of Social Security payments in January

In January 2023, up to 3 different payments will take place. These payments will reach different groups of Social Security retirees. The collection date of these payments are the following days:

  • January 11th. Second Wednesday of the month. On this day, retirees born between the 1st and 10th of any month receive their retirement benefit.
  • January 18th. Third Wednesday of the month. Social Security users with birthdays between the 11th and 20th of any month receive their payment on this day.
  • January 25th. Fourth Wednesday of the month. On this day, users with birthdays between the 21st and 31st of the month receive their SSA payments.

It is usual that to these three Social Security payments we have to add one more, which is the Supplemental Security Income, but that payment has an irregularity in the month of January 2023.

When do I receive SSI for January 2023?

Social Security Supplemental Security Income payments are always sent on the 1st of the month. There is one exception to this, and that is that when that day is a holiday or weekend, the payment is made on the immediately preceding business day.

This is the case for January 2023, since the 1st is a holiday. Therefore, Social Security sent this check last December 30. Despite this, most beneficiaries of this benefit will receive the payment in their accounts in January 2023, unless they have Direct Deposit activated.
