Every retiree in the United States with a Social Security benefit can expect a monthly check for the stipulated amount, barring any administrative errors or other reasons for the federal payment to be stopped. As a result, it’s feasible to determine the payment day in advance.
For those who already have an accepted Social Security benefit, simply wait for the designated day of the month when the Administration sends out the monthly checks. To pinpoint the exact day of receiving the benefit, consult the calendar and cross-reference it with the individual’s birthday.
However, there’s more to consider. The year in which retirees applied for their Social Security benefits also impacts the day they receive their retirement benefit. This means that retirees can be divided into two groups based on the year they began receiving their benefits: pre-1997 and post-1997.
One thing is for sure when it comes to Social Security payments, and that is that regardless of when you apply for them, you will still receive them. However, some retirees will receive their payments earlier or later in the month. The payment schedule is always fixed and we simply have to know the characteristics that make it up. Once we know what happens in the calendar we will be able to organize the economy of our home.
Retirees before 1997 form a distinct group, with the 3rd day of the month being the standard day for these individuals to receive their benefits.
On the other hand, retirees after 1997 can expect their checks on various days throughout the month. This distinction between pre- and post-1997 beneficiaries is crucial in understanding the schedule for upcoming payments. Supplemental Security Income is a different payment and has special rules.
Who will receive the next Social Security payment?
In just a few days, millions of retirees will be able to count on a new Social Security check. However, other groups will not receive their benefit checks for several weeks. In order to receive the next retirement payment, there is an essential requirement that must be met. Without that requirement, it is not possible to receive this check.
This requirement is that you must have applied for retirement before 1997. All pensioners who received their Social Security pension before that date will receive their benefit on June 2. The rest of the retirees will have to wait until the following weeks, although they will still receive a check from Social Security.
Another requirement is that a beneficiary must have been born before 1997. Those who meet this requirement will receive their retirement check without any issues. However, those who do not meet this criterion will have to wait until the following weeks.
- Born from 1 to 10: 14th of may
- Born from 11 to 20: 21th of may
- Born from 21 to 31: 28th of may
Finally, all retirees are requested to provide proof of identity and residency in order to confirm their eligibility for Social Security.
Other retirement payments in June 2023
We already know that the June 1st payment is only for pre-1997 retirees. The rest of the retirees, all those who applied for Social Security after 1997, are divided into three different groups. Each of these groups will receive the benefit on a Wednesday of the month.
Retirees born between 1-10
This group of beneficiaries will receive their benefits on the 14th day of June. The check can also be for up to $4,555 and has no requirement other than being born between those days.
Neither the year of birth nor the month matters. So, if you were born between the 1st-10th of the month, you can receive the benefit on the second Wednesday in June.
Pensioners with birthdays between the 11th and 20th birthdays
The third Wednesday of the month is the day on which this group of Social Security beneficiaries receives the benefit. In the month of June, this particular day is the 21st. So that is the day on the calendar on which we will have to mark our age retirement collection.
As with the previous group, the year of birth and the month do not matter for this group. Just having the date of birth between those days is enough.
Social Security beneficiaries born between the 21st and 31st
This is the last group to receive the June retirement benefit. In fact, it is the last group to receive the retirement benefit every month. Just being born on these days is enough to receive the payment on the 28th day of May, that is, the fourth Wednesday of the month.
In addition, remember that it is mandatory to have applied for the benefit after 1997. If we did it before, we would receive the benefit on the 2nd day of June.
