The next Supplemental Security Income payments for United States citizens are getting closer and closer. For that reason, checking to see if we are eligible to receive it on time is critical. If not, we may receive our check later than usual. There is nothing too complicated to do to receive Supplemental Security Income on time.
Since this is the case, it is best to have the fastest collection method activated to receive Supplemental Security Income. In addition to this, any other payments sent by the Social Security Administration will reach our pocket on time. Just by choosing the right collection method, we will have all the pensioner payments before the rest of the beneficiaries. At least we will have them on the same day that the Administration sends them.
Also keep in mind that the amount of Supplemental Security Income has no effect on the day of payment. Many United States citizens think that the amount of money they receive each month can affect the day the government sends out a check. But this is not the case, as SSI payments are always sent on the same day for all recipients.
What do I need to do to receive Supplemental Security Income on time?
The day the Social Security Administration sends out your Supplemental Security Income check is the 1st of the month, with some exceptions. For the month of June, this will be the case since the 1st of the month is a workday. But watch out for this, as the collection day is Thursday. This means that without the collection method activated the money could arrive as late as the following Monday, i.e. the 5th.
It usually takes 3 days for Social Security checks to arrive in bank accounts. If there is a weekend in between or a holiday, this can stretch. To avoid these problems, it is best to activate Direct Deposit. With this collection method the money arrives immediately to our bank account.
Therefore, we do not have to wait any day and the money will not take up to 3 days to appear, although sometimes it can be more. This method is as reliable as the classic bank account deposit. Anyway, in case you activate it and you are not happy, you can always go back to the previous method.
Why are there two SSI payments in June?
In the month of June we will have two different Supplemental Security Income payments. This is due to a calendar irregularity. Even so, we must activate Direct Deposit in order to receive it within the month of June.
These are the days when the Administration will send out the two checks for the June SSI payment:
- June 1st. June SSI payment for June.
- June 30th. July Supplemental Security Income check.
The payment is early because July 1st is a weekend. Since the Social Security Administration does not send checks on holidays or weekends, it advances the check to the immediately preceding business day.
