For United States citizens, June Social Security disability payments may be arriving later than ever. This is due to a slight irregularity in the schedule that causes Social Security checks to be mailed a little later. Regardless, disability benefit checks will be arriving in the next 24 hours to thousands of beneficiaries.
Disability retirees who meet Social Security‘s calendar requirements will get their payments very soon. To receive it immediately it is necessary to meet 3 different requirements. While it is true that two of these requirements do not depend directly on the citizen, the other requirement can change depending on preferences.
So pay attention to what these requirements are and don’t miss the opportunity to cash your disability check right away. Even so, you have to check beforehand if you really belong to the group of beneficiaries who will receive a retirement pension in the future. If not, there is nothing to worry about, since you will still receive your check. The only problem is that it will be a little later.
Conditions for receiving a disability payment
In order to receive the next Social Security disability check, two requirements must be met. In addition, there is a third requirement that must be met if you want to receive any of the benefits directly and without waiting. This third requirement also applies if you want to receive Supplemental Security Income as soon as possible.
The requirements to collect this check are the following:
Disability retirement after 1997
The first requirement is to have retired after 1997. Pre-1997 retirees collect Social Security on a different day. Post-1997 retirees’ disability checks arrive on three different days.
So if your benefit is after 1997 you have already passed the first of the filters to collect the next check. Otherwise, the payment should have reached you last June 2nd. Retirees prior to that year always receive the first payment of the month.
Having a birthday between the 1st and 10th of the month
The month of your birthday does not matter, since only the day is the exact day of your birth. The birthday determines the group to which you belong. The next payment is for retirees born between the 1st and 10th of the month. Only disability beneficiaries born between these days receive a check.
If you were born on a different day, the payment will arrive on either June 21st or June 28th. Each of these days is for a different group of retirees. In conclusion, all retirees will eventually receive their benefits, although some will receive them earlier than others.
Activate Direct Deposit
The method of payment when determining the exact day we receive Social Security is critical. In the old days we could also choose to collect by physical check, but today this is impossible. The two methods of collecting disability payment are:
- Bank Account Deposit.
- Direct Deposit.
By means of this second method of payment, the Social Security payment will arrive immediately. For this reason, activating it should be one of our priorities. We will never have to wait to be able to have one of the disability payments in our pocket.
If we don’t want to activate Direct Deposit, we can always receive the money in the usual way. Collecting Social Security through the classic bank deposit can mean a delay of up to 3 days.
