Citizens with a United States disability check will have to wait a little longer if they want to get one of the new checks. Some of the retirees in this category have already collected the benefit while others are waiting to get a new check. Therefore, we need to know very well at what time of the month we might get the money.
In this regard, Social Security payments can come in up to 4 different payments per month. Although this is so, each beneficiary can get only 1 of the 4 payments. Retirees do not have access to more than one disability benefit payment each new month. It is possible to get two Social Security checks, but only if you also have Supplemental Security Income.
On the other hand, it is also important to know if we should already have a retirement payment. If we are in the groups that cashed the check previously and we do not have the money, we should claim the payment as soon as possible. The longer it takes to claim the payment, the longer it will take to have the check available, so we should request the late Disability payment as soon as we see that it is not arriving on time.
When do the new Disability payments arrive?
The next Social Security Disability payments will arrive in the next few weeks. To be exact, the payment will arrive on the third and fourth Wednesday of January. This is the usual schedule for most cases, although there may be some exceptions.
To get the ideas clearer, these are the groups of retirees and the days on which they will get these checks:
- January 17th. Payment for post-1997 retirees with a birthday between the 11th and 20th of any month.
- January 24th. Social Security check (disability or otherwise) for beneficiaries born between the 21st and 31st of any month.
If you belong to one of these two groups, you can still get payment in January. If you are not, you should already have the money in your bank account. Pre-1997 retirees cashed check on January 3rd. And post-1997 beneficiaries with birthdays between the 1st and 10th received the Disability benefit on the 10th of the same month.
Supplemental Security Income Payments
Just as Social Security Disability payments may arrive in the next few days, Supplemental Security Income recipients may also get a check in just a few weeks. If you have a Supplemental Security Income benefit, you should be aware that a check did not arrive in January, but a payment will arrive in February without any problems.
The payment for this benefit has a maximum of $943 per month, especially after applying the COLA, since last year it had a payment of $914. This assumes that a retiree could reach that figure, but not everyone can have a check that high. Moreover, the average check is around $500.
The next of these payments will be on the 1st of February and remember that by activating Direct Deposit you will get this payment as well as any other Social Security Disability payment immediately. Otherwise, you will have to wait a few days until you can get the money directly.
