The new United States Social Security Disability benefit payment is much closer than it seems. The first week of February is crucial for the beneficiaries of one group of retirees in particular. This group is the first to be paid each month, and this February they will get their payments even earlier than usual.
Also, Disability benefit payments are not exclusive to this group. Thus, there are other different groups that can collect on this day, although this is so as long as they meet all the established requirements. The advantage with respect to group 1 is that this group does not have any other extra requirements, but fulfilling one is enough.
Even so, it is true that you must comply with this mandatory requirement for the Administration to send you the check, but you must also comply with another one to obtain payment as soon as possible. If we do not meet both requirements we could get the payment either in the next week or we would already have to wait to get the payment in the third, fourth or fifth week of the month. If you have a disability benefit, pay attention to these two requirements.
Requirements to get the February Disability benefit soon
In order for us to get a check for this benefit on the same day the money is sent, we have to meet two requirements. However, to be part of this group of retirees to whom the Administration will send the check this week, we only have to meet one requirement.
This mandatory requirement is to have the benefit since before 1997. If our Disability check is prior to that year, the payment could arrive in the first week of February. The usual day for this payment is the 3rd of each month, but there is an exception in February, since the 3rd day is a weekend. Therefore, in this month we will have the payment on the 2nd day, which means that we will have the payment even earlier.
In the case of meeting this first requirement, the Administration will send us the check on the 2nd day of February, but this does not mean that we will get the check on the same day. In order to collect the benefit on that particular day we will have to meet another requirement. This other requirement is to activate Direct Deposit, the fastest cashing method of all. This is the only way we can have the money on the 2nd of February itself, which is the day it is sent.
Other Social Security payments during the month of February
Just as the 2nd day payment will reach pre-1997 retirees, beneficiaries who applied for disability payments after 1997 may get checks on different days.
These are the mailing days for these payments:
- February 14th. Post-1997 retirees with birthdays between the 1st and 10th get payment on this day.
- February 21st. Disability Beneficiaries with birthdays between the 11th and 20th and the benefit from after 1997 can get this payment.
- February 28th. Last payment of the month, which will be only for those Americans with birthdays between the 21st and 31st and the benefit after 1997.
Remember that these days are the days on which the Social Security Administration will send out checks for disability and other reasons, but that does not imply that all Americans will get paid on that exact day. In order to get paid on the same day, you need to activate Direct Deposit as your method of payment.
