The Social Security Administration has a very specific schedule for sending out retirement and disability benefit money. However, it is true that there are times when some payments, such as Supplemental Security Income, receive changes in the day they are sent. But these changes are minimal, as Social Security payments are usually sent on time.

In the next week, the Social Security Administration will send the average payment of $1,666 to all those retirees with an accepted benefit who meet a requirement. That requirement is related only to the birthday. It does not matter at what age we apply for retirement or whether it is disability. The only important element in this case is when our birthday is.

With our birthday information we only need to look to see if Social Security will send us the check on the second, third or fourth Wednesday of the month. Retirement payments are always sent on these days. Knowing this calendar is a good way to perfectly control everything related to our family economy.

Despite all this, we must also keep in mind that there are other Social Security payments that do not pertain to all retirees. There are some payments that are only for one group. These are the Supplemental Security Income payments. To find out if you are entitled to this other benefit, you can use the BEST tool.

Next Social Security payment in December

The next payment that the Social Security Administration will send out in December is on the 14th of this month. Retirees with birthdays between the 1st and 10th of the month will be able to receive their benefit on this day. This will occur as long as they have Direct Deposit activated to receive payments.

In addition to this payment, SSA will send two other payments to retirees and disabled users in 2 other different groups.

  • December 21st. This payment is for users born between the 1st and 10th of a month.
  • December 28th. Social Security users born between the 21st and 31st of a month will be able to receive their benefit on this day.
  • December 30th. Any user with an accepted Supplemental Security Income payment will receive the check on this day. The date of birth does not matter for this payment.

These payments complete the Social Security Administration’s December check mailing schedule. After these payments, you must wait until January to receive the next payment. These payments are, therefore, the last payments without the COLA for next year.
