The United States Social Security payment organization includes Disability benefits in its schedule. Therefore, when you want to know when a beneficiary gets SSDI, simply follow the payment schedule for all other beneficiaries.
This means that the days on which we get the Disability benefit payment are no different than those for aged or widowed retirees. The important thing in these cases is to comply with the Social Security requirements. The amount is also not important for collecting our check earlier or later.
Requirements for the next Disability payment
The new Disability check will reach Social Security beneficiaries in the United States on May 8th. This day has two requirements that must be met. So if we do not meet them we must look at the other payment days of the month.
The two requirements to get Disability Benefit on May 8th are:
- Have a Disability Benefit as of May 1997. If we applied for a check in that month or any month after that date, we are in this group.
- Have a birthday between the 1st and 10th of the month. Regardless of the year of birth or month. Only the days from the 1st to the 10th matter.
Only then will we get the check for up to $3,822 on this May 8th. All other beneficiaries will be able to collect in the weeks following this day.
Remaining Disability Payments in May 2024
After the May 8th payment, we will have to wait until the following weeks if we want to get one of the benefits. That said, we must meet the established requirements in order to be able to collect on either of these two days.
The remaining collection days and requirements in May are:
- May 15th. Payment for retirees after May 1997 with birthdays between the 11th and 20th of any month.
- May 22nd. Post May 1997 retirees with birthdays between the 21st and 31st of any month collect on this day.
This is the only way to obtain payment on one of these days. Likewise, Social Security Disability beneficiaries who have a check from before May 1997 got their payment on the 3rd day of May.
