Will Smith slap at Chris Rock during the Oscars continues to provoke queues in the entertainment press and in Hollywood. The slap that the winner dealt to the comedian was unanimously dismissed by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, and in particular by several production companies with which he already had several deals.

The incident could cost him starring roles in several films, such as the sequel to Aladdin. But apparently Will Smith has a ray of hope at the end of the tunnel. And it turns out that one of the most successful films he has starred in has been able to bring him back as a leading man.

Through its president, Tom Rothman, he endorsed the actor. “This movie was in development and still is. There were no brakes to pump because the car wouldn’t move. It was a very unfortunate thing that happened,” Rothman said after the events at the Oscars.

“I don’t think it’s really my place to comment, other than knowing Will Smith for many years and knowing that he’s a good person. That was an example of a very good man who was going through a bad time in front of the world. I think his apologies and regrets are genuine and I believe in forgiveness and redemption.”
