Retirees who collect a United States Social Security benefit every month usually know on which day they collect their check. Still, there are months when various calendar irregularities can completely change a pensioner’s financial plan. In this case, September is a bit irregular in this regard.
If you have a previously accepted benefit you should take a good look at the September calendar. The Social Security Administration follows the usual pre-established script, but there is a particularity that causes some retirees not to receive checks in the second week. With this in mind, we must organize our household finances well.
In this sense, there are not only irregularities with Social Security payments. There are also certain irregularities related to the Supplemental Security Income benefit. Keeping a close eye on all kinds of changes in Social Security payments is critical for retirees who have no other source of income and rely primarily on benefits.
WHO DOES NOT RECEIVE A NEW SOCIAL SECURITY PAYMENT THIS WEEK?
Due to a scheduling irregularity, the Social Security Administration will not be sending out any new payments this week. That means no one will be able to receive one of the new pensioner checks. Still, some retirees may receive a new payment of up to $4,555 during the current week.
That’s because the Administration sent out some payments last Friday. Citizens who receive that payment and do not have Direct Deposit activated will receive their benefit over the next few days. Since there is a weekend in between, the money may take a little longer.
All other retirees will not be able to receive checks this week, barring very exceptional situations. So remember that if you have an accepted benefit you will be able to receive the money in the following weeks.
UPCOMING PENSIONER PAYMENTS IN SEPTEMBER
The reason why pensioner payments in September are delayed is very easy to understand. Since the month started on a Friday, the second Wednesday, which is the first day of payment for post-1997 retirees, arrives a week later.
Thus, the first of the payment days for this group becomes September 13th. This check is only for retirees with birthdays between the 1st and 10th of the month. It is also mandatory to have the Social Security benefit after 1997.
In this regard, the other payment days are the following Wednesdays. On the one hand, we have the payment on the 20th and then the payment on the 27th. The first of these days is for retirees with birthdays between the 11th and 20th and the second day is for beneficiaries born between the 21st and 31st. Likewise, they also need to have the benefit since after 1997, as it is an indispensable condition.
Finally, the payment of Supplemental Security Income also varies slightly this month. The Social Security Administration sent out the September check on the 1st of the month. However, there will be an extra check on the next 29th day. This payment is actually for the month of October.
