Everywhere in the United States, the Social Security Disability benefit check will arrive in December to all beneficiaries as usual. And there are no exceptions in this regard, since any citizen who has an accepted benefit will be able to enjoy the new check that will soon arrive in his or her pocket.
The complete schedule of payments for this benefit shows all the exact days on which the Social Security Administration will send the payments. However, whether or not you will get a check on those days depends on several different things. It is common for these benefit payments to arrive on time, but exceptions can occur.
Regardless of the type of benefit we have, whether it is a Disability Benefit (SSDI) or an age retirement check, we may get a check on the same day. What is important in determining whether we will get the payment on one day or another are other elements. Both the year of retirement and the day of birth are the key points in determining these issues.
WHEN WILL I GET MY DISABILITY BENEFIT PAYMENT IN DECEMBER?
If you haven’t had your benefit since before 1997, you may have to wait a little longer than expected. As of today, on December 1st, the Social Security Administration sends out Disability checks to beneficiaries with a check prior to this year.
However, if our benefit is after that date we should keep the following days in mind:
- December 13th. Payment for post-1997 retirees with a birthday between the 1st and 10th of the month.
- December 20th. Any post-1997 Social Security beneficiary with a birthday between the 11th and 20th will get their payment on this day.
- December 27th. Retirees with birthdays between the 21st and 31st of the month will get their Social Security disability benefit if they retired before 1997.
After that payment there will be no more checks in the month of December and, therefore, in the current year of 2023. Therefore, we will have to wait until 2024 to get a new payment for both disability and any other type of retirement.
HOW TO GET AN EXTRA CHECK FROM SUPPLEMENTAL SECURITY INCOME?
In December 2023, the Social Security Administration sends out an extra check for beneficiaries who have Supplemental Security Income accepted. If you also have the Disability Benefit (SSDI) or any other benefit, you can cash up to 3 different checks this month.
However, you need to activate Direct Deposit as a cashing method. If you have it activated, the money sent by the government will appear immediately in your bank account and you will not have to wait a single day to get it.
In that case, on December 29th we will have this check, which can be for up to 943 dollars, since it will include the COLA of 2024 because it actually belongs to next year’s calendar.
In short, if we have Supplemental Security Income and Direct Deposit activated we will be able to get three checks in the month of December. Two SSI checks on the one hand and a disability or other retirement check on the other.
