The first of May’s United States Social Security retirement payments is about to reach American households. And to get this check it is only necessary to fulfill one requirement. There is also an extra condition to be met if we want to get the money at the same time the Administration sends it.
Thus, getting each month’s payments will depend on whether or not we meet these requirements. In total, the Social Security Administration sends four checks to four different groups, and in the next few hours it will send the first of these four checks to Group 1 beneficiaries. Being in Group 1 is essential to get this money.
Who can get the next Social Security payment in May?
The payment day for this first May retirement payment will be on the 3rd of the month. This day will be next Friday, so we are just hours away from getting the benefit. If you belong to group 1, you will get this new check from Social Security soon.
However, there is also something very important to keep in mind. Not only do you need to be in Group 1, but you also need to activate the fastest collection method of all. If we do not activate the fastest collection method, the money will not appear immediately and we will have to wait a few more days.
To belong to group 1 we simply have to meet one requirement. That requirement is to have the benefit accepted before May 1997. There is no extra requirement to belong to the group, but it is important to remember also the issue of the collection method.
What will be the maximum amount of Social Security in the new May payment?
The maximum check will depend on the retirement category. Also, it is not possible to collect a different check than the payment we have collected in the previous months of this year 2024. At the end of the day, the retirement payment depends entirely on our work history.
For age retirement payments, the maximum is $4,873 per month. The disability check has a maximum payment of $3,822, as does the retirement payment at age 67.
Finally, the Early Retirement Age payment can reach up to $2,710 per month. But, as we have already commented, Social Security payments depend on the complete history of each beneficiary, so all Americans have a different check.
