Before the end of May, a Social Security beneficiary can get up to two different checks. It all depends on which group of United States retirees you belong to and whether or not you have an extra benefit coming at the end of the month.
These two checks can be for up to $4,873 one and up to $943 the other. However, it is true that it is not possible to get the maximum on both checks, since Social Security only sends the two benefits to the neediest recipients.
If you are thinking you might get at least one of these two monthly checks, take a good look at the requirements. Meeting two requirements is critical to getting the next Social Security payment. If you meet a couple of other requirements, you will get the extra payment before the end of the month.
Requirements for getting two Social Security payments in the next few weeks
As we have already mentioned, it is possible to get these two Social Security checks just by meeting a few requirements. The days on which the Administration will send out the two checks will be May 22nd and May 31st. This means that one of the checks will be available this week and the other one will be available next week.
To get the payment on May 22nd we must meet two requirements. These two requirements are: to have a benefit after May 1997 and to have a birthday between the 21st and 31st of any month. Thanks to this, we will be able to belong to group 3 of retirees, which will mean that we will always receive a check on the fourth Wednesday of the month, except for some exceptions.
The payment on the 31st of May is a little different. This payment is the Supplemental Security Income and requires applying well in advance to get it. If our SSI check does not clear, we will not be able to get this payment on the 31st of May. Remember that the two requirements to get this extra benefit from Social Security are having a disability or being 65 years old, as well as low resources and low monthly income.
In short, if you meet all these requirements you will get your check in the next few days regardless of the amount. Also, remember that these are the days when the Social Security Administration sends out checks. Whether or not you get them on the same day they are mailed depends directly on the collection method you have chosen.
