Not only United States Social Security age beneficiaries will be able to get their new May 3rd benefit check. In addition to them, other groups of retirees can have the May 3rd benefit in their checking account in just a few hours.
This first payment to Social Security retirees for the month of May will be very important, as for some it will arrive immediately to their checking account. We may also get two Supplemental Security Income checks in the same month, so we need to take a good look at the eligibility requirements to see if we are eligible.
List of retirees collecting their Social Security on May 3rd
The main requirement to get the May 3rd Social Security payment is none other than having the retirement benefit accepted prior to May 1997. This is not because it is the May payment, but because group 1 beneficiaries, who receive the first payment of the month, always have this requirement.
Therefore, all retirees who meet this condition will be within this group. So no matter the type of retirement, in this way, these retirees can collect check on May 3rd:
- Disability Beneficiaries.
- Early Retirement Age Retirees.
- Full Retirement Age Retirees.
- Late Retirement Age Retirees.
- Widows and widowers.
- Spouses.
- Children with a Social Security benefit.
And any other group that has had the benefit since before May 1997 can count on the May 3 benefit.
Double Social Security SSI check in May 2024
In addition to the payment we have discussed, retirees who meet other requirements can get two separate Supplemental Security Income (SSI) payments before the end of May.
During this month, the Administration sends checks to these beneficiaries on the 1st and 31st. So if you are eligible to get monthly SSI, the Social Security Administration will send you a check on each of these days.
Remember, to be eligible for monthly SSI you must have a disability or be 65 or older. You must also have low resources and low monthly income. This payment can be up to $943, but not all retirees reach such a large amount. The check depends directly on our income: the more income we have, the smaller the SSI check and vice versa.
