The total number of checks the United States Social Security Administration will issue will be five during the month of August. This does not mean that every retiree in America will receive five checks each. Retirees will get the money they are entitled to.
The payments for these checks will be made on different days. Therefore, the Social Security Administration will send these checks in 5 different weeks. On one side we will have the Supplemental Security Income payments. On the other hand, the 4 checks for pensioners.
The Supplemental Security Income check will arrive on the 1st of August. The Administration will pay the checks on this day and Direct Deposit retirees will receive the money immediately. The rest of the beneficiaries will have to wait to receive the check. Thus, it is usual to have to wait 3 days, but it depends on the bank.
Social Security Payment
On the other hand, there are the Social Security benefits. Then these benefits will arrive on the third day of August and on the second, third and fourth Wednesday of the same month. So these are the exact days and conditions to receive the payment:
- Retirees with a benefit prior to 1997. The payment for this group will be on the 3rd day of the month.
- Retirees with a Social Security check after 1997. Divided into three groups, depending on the birthday:
- Birthday between the 1st and 10th. Check on August 9th.
- Birthdays between the 11th and 20th. Social Security will send payment on August 16th.
- Birthdays between the 21st and 31st. Payments for this group will be made on the 23rd day of August.
Remember that it does not matter if the benefit is for disability, age or any other reason. So, in order to determine on which day we will receive the Social Security, we only need to know the above mentioned data.
Contacting the Social Security Administration
There are different ways to contact the SSA, besides the most used way, the internet.
There are other ways, but they are slower and less efficient. However, they are also useful and available to all retired users. These are the methods:
- Visit the office. With offices scattered throughout the United States, you can find the one nearest you. Some of them require appointments. So find out before you go.
- By phone. The telephone is another sometimes quick and easy way to get in touch. The problem is that only a limited number of calls can be made, so Social Security cannot answer all calls at once. The telephone number is 1 (800) 772-1213.
These two methods are also helpful, but not as helpful as contacting Social Security agencies via the Internet. So get your My Social Security account, avoid hassles and save time.
