The Social Security Administration has now sent all March payments to United States retirees. However, this does not mean that all retirees now have their retirement money available. The check may have arrived in the checking account, but it could still be on its way.
And that is because there is a specific group of United States citizens who may still get, as of today, the March retirement check. This group is Social Security group 4 retirees, but they have to meet a separate requirement.
This other requirement is nothing more than choosing a particular collection method. However, this does not at any time ensure that we have not gotten the payment yet. What is certain is that the Social Security Administration has already sent all the checks. Whether or not we have already received it depends on other factors.
Who can get Social Security today?
As we discussed earlier, only a specific group of Americans can get this benefit today. This group is group 4. To be part of retiree group 4, you must have your birthday between the 21st and 31st of the month. Likewise, it is also necessary to have the benefit since after May 1997.
These are not the only requirements to collect this check. It is also essential not to have activated Direct Deposit as a collection method. This collection method is the fastest of all, so if we have activated it, the money should already be available.
For that reason, those without Direct Deposit did not get the money instantly and therefore can still get the Social Security money in their checking account today. That is the only way we could get the checks for up to $4,873 on March 27th.
All retirement payments for March
For the month of March the Social Security Administration has sent out a total of 4 different checks for retirees and 1 Supplemental Security Income payment. It has been a more or less regular schedule, so there are no surprises in the days of the mailings, except for the first of the groups.
These have been the March 2024 retirement payment days:
- March 1st. Supplemental Security Income.
- March 1st. Payment for pre-May 1997 retirees.
- March 13th. Check for post-May 1997 retirees. Birthday must be between the 1st and 10th of the month.
- March 20th. Check for retirees after May 1997. Must also have a birthday between the 11th and 20th of the month.
- March 27th. Post-May 1997 retiree check. Only if the birthday is between the 21st and 31st of the month.
Regarding the birthday, it does not matter if it is in March or in another month of the year. The important thing is to meet these two requirements if we want the Social Security check to arrive on one of the days we have marked above.
If you have not received your check by today, you should claim the payment, since with Direct Deposit it arrives immediately, but without it, Social Security appears a few days later.
