In any of the United States, in order to receive on time the payments sent by the Social Security Administration, either the pensioner or the Supplemental Security Income, we must take into account several elements. Controlling everything related to the payments helps us to keep our finances under control.
And that’s why it’s so important to know the day of the payment, whether we’re talking about the Supplemental Security Income or the retirement or disability pension. So if we know every important fact about the day of the payment, we will have a great advantage. Not knowing these details may mean that we receive the money later or not at all.
It may be the case that the bank withholds the money, for example. The government will usually send out Supplemental Security Income checks every month, but this does not mean that you will receive them immediately.
If you still haven’t received your check on September 1st, you may have a problem with your benefit. So check out the steps you can take to claim your Supplemental Security Income check and get it as soon as possible.
HOW TO CLAIM A LATE PAYMENT OF SUPPLEMENTAL SECURITY INCOME?
First of all, you need to know when you will receive each of your Social Security payments. With Supplemental Security Income, this is easier than with pensions. SSI payments are always made on the 1st of the month, with some exceptions.
Regardless of this, we must take into account the method of payment chosen to receive the SSI check. Even so, whether we have activated Direct Deposit or not, we should have the check in our pocket by now. It usually takes up to 3 days for the money to arrive without Direct Deposit. But we could activate it for the following months to avoid delays.
When it comes to claiming the payment, we must first contact our bank. This is the first barrier we will encounter when claiming Social Security payments of any kind. Whether it is for Supplemental Security Income or for the pensioner, the first thing to do is to contact our bank. If the bank does not help us, then we must move on to Plan B.
In Plan B the idea is to contact the Social Security Administration directly. But we should do this only if our bank does not know anything about our benefit. The SSA should be able to help us, either through a phone call or by going in person to one of the local offices.
There is also an extra Supplemental Security Income payment at the end of the month. This payment will be an advance on the October SSI. The exact date of the payment will be September 29th.
