A new group of retirees in the United States will no longer be getting Social Security checks in the coming weeks. While this information may seem irrelevant at first, it is actually very important. That group of retirees will not get a new check until April.
Because the Social Security Administration schedules payments on different days of the month, those retirees who have not yet received a collection may get paid soon. But several groups will not get another check until April, which means they will have to wait a little longer.
In total there are two groups that have already collected their benefit this month and two others that will get a new check soon. Pay attention to the requirements for each of the checks and see if you should already have your March Social Security payment available.
Social Security Schedule for March 2024
The March 2024 Social Security payment schedule has four paydays for retirement checks. And two of these checks have already been mailed, as we’ve discussed.
So if you are part of these two groups you may not get a new check in March:
- Pre-1997 retirees. These retirees collected their payment on March 1st. So if you have a check from before 1997 payment arrived on the first day of this month.
- Post-1997 retirees with birthdays between the 1st and 10th of the month. Beneficiaries in this group got their benefit on the past March 13th.
Beneficiaries in these two groups will not be able to get the next payments. But it is possible to get one of the checks in the next few days if you are not part of these Social Security groups. These are the next payment days:
- March 20th. Payment for post-1997 retirees with birthdays between the 11th and 20th of any month.
- March 27. Post-1997 retirees with birthdays between the 21st and 31st of any month get paid on this day.
This closes the March payment schedule. After the payment on the 27th of this month, the Social Security Administration will send a new payment in April, but to collect that payment we will need to meet different requirements.
