Any United States citizen who meets a few requirements can start collecting Social Security benefits. Within this benefit there are two basic modalities, the disability subsidy and the retirement subsidy. They are not compatible, although there are certain exceptions, so the user must choose the one that suits him/her best. This happens in the case of being eligible for both types of benefits. In any case, in order to know the day on which the Social Security Administration pays you the amount of the benefit, it does not matter whether it is for retirement or disability.
The other key element in the benefits is the payment days, as we have already mentioned. In this sense, there are three payment days per month. And, as we have already commented, it does not matter what type of Social Security benefit you have. These three days are for all SSA beneficiaries with an accepted subsidy. The collection days are the second, third and fourth Wednesdays of the month. This structure is repeated every month. It is true that when one of these Wednesdays is a holiday, the structure may change, but this is not a very common situation.
In addition, the day on which you receive your Social Security benefit depends on your date of birth. Therefore, the second Wednesday of the month is for people born between the 1st and 10th of the month. On the other hand, people with birthdays between the 11th and 20th receive their subsidy on the third Wednesday of the month. Finally, the fourth Wednesday of the month is for people who have their birthday between the 21st and 31st of the month. The next payment will be made on the third Wednesday of the month, which in October is the 19th and is for those born between the 11th and 20th.
Social Security payments in October
In addition to the next payment on the 19th of October, there are other payments in this month. This is the payment schedule:
- October 12: Social Security sends money to people born between the 1st and 10th of the month.
- October 19: Payment day for people born between the 11th and 20th of the month.
- October 26: Last day of Social Security payments in October. This day is for people born between the 21st and 31st of the month.
In case you do not have your Social Security payment on time, you can contact your bank to see if they have withheld the payment. If your bank is unable to help you, try contacting your nearest SSA office.
