When the Social Security Administration announces the schedule of retirement payments in the United States, it is easy to know on which day we will get our check. After all, there are, as a general rule, only four days of payments for this type of benefits.
Therefore, with just a glance at the calendar we will be able to know perfectly the day of the collection. This is one of the great advantages of collecting a retirement benefit, whether for disability, age or other reasons. Either way, we can know the day of payment. Still, some Americans get the payment later.
Which Americans can get Social Security retirement?
In the next few days only a specific group of Americans can get the new Social Security check. This payment from the Administration was sent out last April 3rd and many Americans are already enjoying their retirement.
In order to access this payment in the days after the check was sent, it is mandatory that:
- The retiree has had the Social Security retirement benefit since before May 1997. This makes you a Group 1 retiree.
- The retiree does not have Direct Deposit activated. This collection method is the fastest and most efficient of all, so if we do not have it activated, the check will arrive a few days later.
If both requirements are met, the payment will arrive today or in the following days. Remember that if we activate Direct Deposit and we are part of group 1 retirees, the benefit arrives immediately on the 3rd day of each month, with some exceptions.
What other payments will Social Security send for retirement in April?
In addition to this April 3rd payment, the Social Security Administration will pay three other checks to the appropriate beneficiaries. Different groups of retirees get paid on different days.
April 10th will be the payment day for post-1997 retirees with birthdays between the 1st and 10th of any month. And it doesn’t matter the type of retirement or the amount of the check. The important thing is to meet these two requirements.
On the other hand, April 17th will be the payment day for pre-1997 retirees as well. However, you must have a birthday between the 11th and 20th of any month. This will be the second to last check of the month.
The last Social Security retirement payment in April will be on the 24th. This payment is exclusively for retirees with a benefit after May 1997 and a birthday between the 21st and 31st of any month.
