On April 1st, 2024, a new Social Security payment will be sent to beneficiaries of a specific type of benefit. This payment is not mandatory for retirees, but it is compatible with United States retirement checks.
Thus, a retiree could get this payment on April 1st extra. Therefore, it would be a way to get a little more money with respect to the rest of the months. Of course, it is mandatory to request the extra payment in advance. Otherwise, the payment will not arrive on the 1st of April.
If we have already requested this extra payment, which is Supplemental Security Income, it is possible that it will appear on April 1st in our checking account. This check will be for a maximum of $943, but it is customary to collect about $600 per month.
The $600 a month payment of this Social Security benefit is actually the average check. So we will not get exactly this payment, but a similar benefit. It will all depend on our monthly income. The higher your income, the lower your Supplemental Security Income payment will be.
Eligibility for the Supplemental Security Income payment on April 1st
In order to get this benefit we will have to meet two requirements. This type of check is an extra benefit for needy Americans. So if our monthly income is low it is possible that we have access to this monthly check.
The payment of this benefit requires two conditions:
- Being 65 or older or having a disability. Either group can still get the payment. It is not necessary to have a Social Security benefit, but it is compatible.
- Have a low monthly income, in addition to low resources. The less money we collect each month, the larger our Supplemental Security Income check will be.
We may be able to get a payment of up to $943. However, the Social Security Administration may change the amount of the check if we ever collect more money.
A beneficiary may lose his or her Supplemental Security Income if he or she no longer meets the two requirements. Therefore, it is always a good idea to keep in mind that we may not collect the extra Social Security check if our employment situation changes.
