Eligibility for each of the checks the Social Security Administration sends out depends on several factors. So if you are expecting to get a Disability payment you should look to see if you qualify for the upcoming mailings. Only then will you get one of these checks in the United States.
In total, the Administration sends out four different checks each month. And we cannot get all the checks, but only one of all of them. Therefore, the Disability payment will reach our pocket only in case we meet the conditions of the particular payment.
Who is eligible for the new Disability payment?
The new Social Security Disability payment in April 2024 will be for Group 3 retirees only. So if you are part of group 1, 2 or 4 you will not be eligible for this new benefit. Only if you meet the requirements to be part of group 3 you can have the money in the current account.
And to be part of this group you only need to meet two requirements. The first one is related to the year of retirement. If our check is after May 1997, we meet the first of the Social Security requirements to be part of this group.
On the other hand, the second requirement is related to the day of birth. The birthday must be between the 11th and 20th of any month in order to be part of this group 3 of retirees. By fulfilling these two requirements we will have access to this payment from the Social Security Administration that will be sent on April 17th, 2024.
Can I get the new payment if I am not a Disability retiree?
The reason for retirement does not matter in determining whether we belong to one group of retirees or another. Social Security beneficiary groups are made up of beneficiaries for Disability, age and other reasons.
So it doesn’t matter if your check is for age, widowhood or other reasons if you meet both of the above requirements. And the same goes for the rest of the Social Security payments for the month. Remember that we only have to meet the requirements and you will be part of the specific group.
If you are not part of the group, the payment will arrive on a different day. The Social Security payment schedule follows a monthly schedule, so you will usually get your Social Security payment on one day or another depending on your personal information.
