Although the schedule of Social Security payments is usually very stable for beneficiaries in the United States, sometimes there are irregularities. What is certain is that even if there are irregularities, every retiree gets his or her benefit within the month.
And it is thanks to this that Americans can organize themselves smoothly within their household economy. If we take into account that millions of Americans live only on the Social Security check, we can better understand the situation that some are in when it comes to waiting for a check.
If the check arrives too late, a retiree may not have enough money to pay their regular expenses. On the other hand, if that retiree gets an extra payment from Social Security he or she may find that he or she is more resilient to be able to pay his or her expenses and thus have a better standard of living.
How to get three Social Security checks in May?
Within the month of May an eligible citizen can get three different Social Security checks. However, two of these checks belong to a different type of payment than the retirement benefit. The extra check we are talking about is the Supplemental Security Income check.
So, if we have accepted Supplemental Security Income, it is possible that we will get a new extra check within the month of May. On the 1st of the month, the Administration sent this SSI payment for the month of May. But on the 31st day of the month we would get an advance payment actually pertaining to June 1st, 2024.
So, in the case of retirement and Supplemental Security Income, we could get up to three different checks. The third check would be the retirement check and the exact day to get it depends on the group of retirees to which we belong.
But the type of retirement does not matter for getting a Social Security check. We could get the Disability, Age or Widow’s or Widower’s payment without any problem. To that check we should add the other two SSI checks and we have the three different payments during the month.
It is also important to remember to activate Direct Deposit if we want our retirement check and Supplemental Security Income check to arrive on the same mailing day. The calendar days marked by the Administration are the days on which Social Security sends checks. Whether or not you get them on the same day depends on the collection method you have activated.
