The new Social Security retirement checks for US beneficiaries are currently being processed for distribution. However, it is important to note that not all Americans will be eligible to receive this new check. To collect this benefit on May 15th, specific eligibility requirements must be met.
Each payment issued by the Social Security Administration includes one or two mandatory requirements. Therefore, not every American is eligible for every retirement check. It is crucial to keep this in mind to properly manage household finances.
Who is Eligible for the May 15th Social Security Payment?
Only retirees who are part of the beneficiary group 3 are eligible to receive this retirement check. To be included in this group, we must meet two essential requirements. One requirement is linked to the year of retirement, and the other to the birthdate.
Therefore, to qualify for the My 15th Social Security check, we must have begun receiving the Social Security payment since May 1997. If our benefit started that month or later, we meet the first requirement.
The second requirement is to have a birthdate between the 11 and 20 of any month.
Upcoming Social Security Payments in May
Following the May 15th Social Security payment, the administration’s payments for this month will conclude. However, the payment schedule for May will soon restart, including an extra payment.
SSI beneficiaries will receive two payments in May because June 1st falls on a Saturday, and Social Security typically advances the payment if it coincides with a weekend or holiday.
