Reaching retirement in the United States is a cause for celebration. The Social Security Administration grants a check with a different amount to each beneficiary. However, it is essential to have worked a minimum of 10 years and reach the age of 62 before applying for a Social Security check.
From that moment on, retirees can begin to collect their benefits. In this sense, it is not mandatory to apply for it at that age, since at 65 we can also apply for the retirement benefit. If we have a retirement and we are that age, it is possible that we will soon receive a check from the Social Security. It all depends on the day of birth.
Likewise, any Social Security beneficiary, regardless of age, type of retirement or anything like that will collect the new cheque. The data to keep in mind when determining the day of collection is only the birthday, as we have previously mentioned. So, are you on the list of 65-year-old retirees who will be cashing their check soon?
Social Security for 65-year-old retirees
The payment of this check will be for 65-year-old retirees who have an accepted Social Security benefit. In addition to that, an essential requirement must also be met. That requirement is none other than having the birthday between the 1st and 10th of the month. But not in February, but in any month of the year.
Also, not only retirees of 65 years of age can receive this benefit. Beneficiaries of any other age can also get a cheque on the next Social Security payment day, as long as they have a birthday between the days indicated. Also note that there are more retirement payment days. This is the complete calendar for February 2023:
- February 8th. Payment for retirees born between the 1st and 10th of the month.
- February 15th. Social Security pays payment for retirees born between the 11th and 20th of the month.
- February 22nd. Retirement benefits for beneficiaries born between the 21st and 31st of the month arrive on this day.
With Direct Deposit activated, we can receive the check the same day the Social Security Administration mails it. Otherwise, we can receive the payment through our bank account, although it could take up to 3 days to arrive in our pocket.
