The Social Security Administration’s payment schedule follows a pattern that repeats every month. However, there are times when United States citizens receive check a little later. In addition to that, there are months when a group of beneficiaries might not receive a check for that particular month.
This is not something that is really widespread among all Social Security beneficiaries, but only happens with a group of them. Not only that, but only one group within the last group to collect Social Security is the one that might not receive the benefit during the month of June. To avoid unpleasant problems related to late payments, it is advisable to always keep in mind the timing of the check mailing.
However, there is one thing to keep in mind. Regardless of whether you belong to one group of retirees or a different group, you will receive a check every month. The only thing that changes in these cases is whether we receive it earlier or later. So there is nothing to worry about, since our retirement payment will still reach our pocket.
What do I have to activate to receive Social Security?
In order to receive your June Social Security on time, it is important to activate Direct Deposit as a payment method. This collection method is perfect for receiving both Social Security payments and other government-related payments. For example, if we are going to receive a Tax Refund from the IRS it is possible to get it immediately with Direct Deposit.
Not only that, but other payments, such as Supplemental Security Income, arrive immediately. This means that there is no waiting time to collect all Social Security benefits. If this is not activated, the last group of retirees will not be able to receive the money on time. There are two main reasons for this.
Delayed payment schedule
The schedule of Social Security payments for post-1997 retirees has been delayed this June. This is because the first of the payments arrives in the third week of the month. Even though it is still the second Wednesday of the month, the money not arriving until the third week greatly delays the pensions being sent out.
This results in the last payment being sent in the last week. Therefore, there is some risk of receiving the money for the month of June within the days of July. And this may happen because of the second of the reasons for the delay.
Social Security money takes several days to arrive
If we have not activated Direct Deposit as a collection method, the money could take up to 3 days to arrive. But if we take into account that there is a weekend in between, the money could finally arrive in July.
Thus, some retirees may only have the money on July 3 or 4. This may be bad news for many citizens. Still, with a little organization it doesn’t really matter what day the Social Security Administration sends us the check.
