The importance of the Social Security Administration in the United States society is very great. So much so that many retirees live only on the check that this administration sends them every month. Even so, there are times when the Social Security offices themselves are not available to citizens.
Within the Administration itself, the physical offices are also a very important place. Through these offices, thousands of United States citizens can complete their Social Security paperwork. Although it is true that nowadays we can do everything online, there are many retirees who do not understand this system.
For that reason, any American who plans to visit one of the offices in the next week should watch out for the exact day to go. This is because one day next week the Social Security offices will be closed to the public. Even so, this does not mean that Social Security services will stop working completely.
Why are Social Security offices closed on June 19?
The reason Social Security offices will be closed on June 19th is simple. The closure is due to Juneteenth National Independence Day. This day is a national holiday, so no official agency will be working in person on this day.
On Monday, June 19, our offices are closed in observance of Juneteenth National Independence Day. You can still use our automated telephone or online services to conduct your business: https://t.co/XPeqNYDJBc

In case we want to do any kind of procedure related to the SSA we will not be able to do it on this particular day. So we will have to wait until Tuesday, June 20th to be able to proceed with them.
How does the closure of the offices affect the payment schedule?
The Social Security Administration does not send payments on holidays or weekends. That is why when there is a situation where a payday is a holiday or weekend, the Administration always pays that check on the immediately preceding business day. However, on the upcoming June 19th no retirement or Supplemental Security Income payments are scheduled.
Therefore, this means that there is no delayed payment for this situation. So any citizen who is due to receive one of the Social Security checks can rest easy. Since there is no payment on that particular day, there is no delay in that month’s payment.
The next Social Security payment is not until June 21st, which is the following Wednesday. And since June 21st is not a holiday or weekend, but the third Wednesday of the month, the payment will go out regularly without any delays.
Even so, remember that to receive payments in the fastest and most efficient way there is nothing better than activating Direct Deposit. This payment method will help us to avoid any kind of setbacks. If there is a holiday, we will receive the payment the moment the Social Security Administration sends it. So we have no excuse to activate it and enjoy its immediacy.
