Starting to collect Social Security benefits is something that all Americans have as their ultimate goal. At the end of the day, it’s important to have a good source of income during the golden years in the United States. And now that I have applied for payment I can know at what time of the month I will be collecting each new check.
The retirement payment always arrives on the same approximate date each month. Social Security checks have a fixed schedule that makes it very easy to know the day of collection. If we keep this in mind, we can organize our finances very well.
And the day I collect my benefit is in the middle of the month, but not all Americans get paid on the same day. We have to keep in mind that there are four groups of retirees in total. I am in group 2, but the rest may be in different groups.
When do I get my Social Security check each month?
The day I get my payment each month is the second Wednesday. The Social Security Administration sends the payment to my checking account on that day, but I don’t always get it right away, although I have for the last few months.
The reason I now get the money every month when the Administration sends it is because I have activated Direct Deposit. This collection method is the fastest. Although it is true that it has a very small commission, it is worth it.
The day of the month of March in which I have collected my payment was the 13th of this month. And it is always the second Wednesday of the month because I applied for Social Security after May 1997 and my birthday is between the 1st and 10th of the month.
If you are not in this group, there is no need to worry. I get my Social Security collection on this day, but you can get it on the 3rd (with some exceptions), 3rd or 4th Wednesday of the month. You need to know which retiree group you are in and then you will know when you will get your payment each month.
