Social Security benefits are paid on different days to different groups of retirees in the United States. Whether we receive payment on one day or another depends directly on certain requirements. By meeting certain requirements we will get payment on a particular day.
There is no doubt that knowing the day on which we could get each of the checks is a huge advantage. If we know the day of the Social Security collection, the economic organization in our home will be much easier and simpler. This way we will be able to have our budget organized according to the day on which we will have our retirement check in our account.
When will the new Social Security checks arrive?
Social Security retirement checks are already on their way for most retirees in the United States. To be exact, three groups of four have the benefit in their checking account to use for whatever they need. There is only one remaining group in the month of May that does not yet have the money available.
In this regard, the groups that have already collected their benefit are:
- Retirees with a benefit prior to May 1997.
- Retirees with a benefit after May 1997 with birthdays between the 1st and 10th.
- Retirees with a benefit after May 1997 with birthdays between the 11th and 20th.
These beneficiaries should already have their benefit in their pocket. That said, if you are a retiree with a post-May 1997 benefit with birthdays between the 21st and 31st of any month, the money will appear on the next May 22nd, 2024. That will be the last of this month’s benefits for retirees of all types.
How do I claim a back payment from Social Security?
If you belong to one of the aforementioned groups that should already have a retirement check and you don’t have the money available, you will need to claim soon. Only if you claim will you know what has happened to your money.
To claim this money, you will need to follow two steps. On the one hand, the first thing you need to do is to contact your bank. Most of the time, delays are due to the bank withholding the money for a variety of reasons.
In the event that the bank is unable to help us, then we should contact the Social Security Administration directly. This is the last step to take, since the Administration can only help us if the bank has not withheld the money.
