Knowing the schedule of the United States Social Security payments is key for American retirees who are waiting for their monthly check. The fact is that the Administration sends checks to citizens every month in a staggered manner according to the requirements they meet.
In total there are 4 different payment days for Social Security beneficiaries. On each of these days, a different group of retirees collect their payment. So we must know which group we belong to if we want to know on which day of the month we will get our payment.
Best of all, the type of benefit does not change which group of retirees we belong to. Therefore, whether we have a disability or age retirement check does not matter. The important thing in these cases is to meet the requirements, which are related to the year of retirement and the birthday.
Knowing the requirements for each of the groups we will be able to find out on which day of the month we will get the money. The next check, for example, is for the second group of retirees and to belong to this group we must meet two fundamental requirements. Will you receive the new Social Security check?
WHO WILL GET THE NEW SOCIAL SECURITY CHECK?
The requirements for getting Social Security payments cause retirees to be divided into two large groups. Within those two groups there are several different groups, so we must be very aware of which group we belong to so that we don’t make mistakes with the financial arrangements in our household.
The first of these groups is the pre-1997 retiree group. All Americans in this group get their payments on the same day. That day is usually the 3rd of the month. In October this was the case, so if your retirement is prior to that year you should already have check.
However, post-1997 Social Security beneficiaries have a subdivision into three different groups. Each of these groups gets their benefit on the 2nd, 3rd or 4th Wednesday of the month and the birthday is the datum that separates the retirees.
October 18th – Next payment Social Security
On the next of the collection days we find that it is the 3 Wednesday in October. The day, to be exact, is October 18th. On this day it is mandatory to meet two requirements to get the money:
- To have a benefit after 1997.
- Have a birthday between the 11th and 20th of the month.
Only by meeting these requirements will we be able to belong to the second group to get the benefit of the month. The rest of the retirees will have to wait to get the money in the next weeks.
In addition to that, remember that if you activate Direct Deposit you will be able to get the Social Security money immediately. So you won’t have to wait a single day to use it for whatever you need.
