The monthly payments that the Social Security Administration sends to United States Disability beneficiaries are in different amounts. Each of these beneficiaries gets a different check depending on his or her individual case. And in this regard the COLA is also different for each American.
The bonus money that the Administration sends each year to all Social Security Disability beneficiaries depends directly on the amount they collected before. After all, the benefit payment increases by a percentage each year. Therefore, each American has a different dollar amount increase.
What is the Disability check bonus in April?
First of all it is good to keep in mind that this bonus is the same bonus that we have already gotten in previous months’ benefits. The Disability checks had an increase in their monthly payments starting in January 2024.
That increase was 3.2% due to the COLA. This percentage was applied to all Social Security checks, including Supplemental Security Income checks. The $160 payment increase is an average increase, so not all Americans got such a check.
Your Disability benefit payment increased that 3.2% over prior year 2023 payments. So, for every $1,000 of retirement payment you get $32 more. If you got a payment of $1,000 per month in April 2023, you should get a benefit of $1,032 this year.
When is the next Social Security Disability payment?
The first of the Social Security Disability payments arrived last April 3rd. This payment was only for retirees with a pre-1997 benefit. Any beneficiary who meets that requirement had the opportunity to collect check on this day.
However, we should also keep in mind that this is not the last payment of the month. After that payment will come the next one, which will be on April 10th. This payment is not for all Social Security beneficiaries. In order to obtain this benefit, two requirements must be met.
The first of these requirements is to have the benefit as of May 1997. Once this requirement is met, a second one must be met, which is to have a birthday between the 1st and 10th of the month.
We should also note that Social Security payments, whether for Disability or other reasons, appear immediately if we have Direct Deposit. Without this collection method, the payment arrives a few days later.
