Although the timing of United States Social Security payments, whether for disability benefits or any other type of check, is always very accurate there are sometimes irregularities.
And because of those irregularities we are likely to occasionally find that in a month we don’t get a particular check. And that can be bad news, but it’s not always the case. In this case, we’re talking about a Supplemental Security Income check, so it doesn’t affect all Americans.
Only beneficiaries with a disability who have a Supplemental Security Income benefit could have a check later than usual. Well, the category is not determinative of getting a SSI check earlier or later, i.e., it doesn’t matter if the citizen has a disability SSI or otherwise.
The key point in all of this is the method of collection chosen. The reason the Social Security Administration will send beneficiaries with a disability and others SSI earlier than usual is because the 1st is a weekend. This causes the payment to be a little earlier.
In this sense, citizens who have Direct Deposit activated will not get a check in October, they will get it earlier. In this way we can get the check earlier than usual, although those who do not have this collection method will get the payment on the 3rd or even 4th day of October.
SSI PAYMENT TO BENEFICIARIES WITH A DISABILITY
As mentioned above, the Supplemental Security Income check will arrive on a different day than usual for beneficiaries with a disability and all others. This day will be September 29th, to be exact.
So if you have a benefit in this category, the Administration will send the check directly on that day. With Direct Deposit activated we will be able to get the money instantly without having to wait a day.
Without this collection method it is also possible to get the check, but we will receive it a few days later. In short, on the 1st of October it is impossible to get the payment due to the irregularity of the calendar. Likewise, thousands of Americans, those who have activated Direct Deposit, will not receive the Supplemental Security Income for disability within the days of October.
Remember that the maximum SSI check is $914 per month, but will increase slightly for beneficiaries with a disability and all other Americans as soon as the 2024 COLA goes into effect.
