When a United States citizen reaches retirement age, a new stage of his life begins, since he starts collecting Social Security. This type of monthly benefit gives the beneficiary a specific monthly amount based on his or her work history. And best of all, the moment the citizen starts getting this money, he does not have to work anymore.
That is true in most cases, although it is true that some retirees can combine the retirement payment with some extra work. This depends directly on the type of benefit you have, the amount you collect and other factors. Still, it is true that most Social Security beneficiaries have no other source of income. And that’s why it’s a good idea to check to see if you’ll be able to get your next retirement payment.
Who gets the next few days’ Social Security retirement payment?
The day we need to keep in mind is next June 3rd. That day will be very important for thousands of retirees who will see a check from Social Security appear in their checking account. But only a specific group can get this money. So pay attention to this in order to be able to organize your household economy.
The prerequisite to get this June 3rd Social Security payment is to have applied for the benefit since before May 1997. This is the only requirement to be part of group 1 of retirees. After this payday we will have other different payments, so if you do not get the June 3rd payment you will have your benefit before the end of the month.
Remaining June 2024 Social Security Payments
Retirement checks do not run out on June 3rd. Only group 1 beneficiaries can get this benefit. All other retirees will collect in the following weeks. To be clearer about the calendar, let’s look at the days and requirements:
- June 12th. Payment for post-May 1997 retirees with birthdays between the 1st and 10th of the month.
- June 18th. Payment for post-May 1997 retirees with birthdays between the 11th and 20th of the month.
- June 26th. Payment for retirees after May 1997 with birthdays between the 21st and 31st of the month.
The amount of each check is different, so a 70-year-old retiree could get a payment of $4,873, but may also get a check for $2,500. The exact amount depends on the work history of each citizen.
Mind you, it is true that the June 2024 payment is higher than the June 2023 Social Security payment. This is due to the COLA, which increased all monthly retirement checks by 3.2% earlier this year.
