Goodbye to 39 branches of this Popular Bank: list of States where they will close

TD Bank has announced that it will permanently close 39 of its branch locations across the United States by June 5, 2025. The decision comes as the bank undergoes a major operational realignment to better match its current business model. The affected branches span across 11 states, including key locations in New York, Florida, Massachusetts, and New Jersey, according to The Street.

This move follows news from March of a $3 billion settlement between TD Bank and the U.S. Department of Justice involving violations of federal anti–money laundering laws. While the bank has not officially linked the closures to that settlement, the timing and scale of the shutdowns suggest a broader restructuring effort.

In a statement to The Street, TD Bank said, “We’ve made the difficult decision to eliminate some roles that are no longer aligned with our business model. We are committed to supporting impacted colleagues fairly, with respect, and providing resources to assist with the transition.”

Which Branches Are Closing?

Locations scheduled to close include:

  • Connecticut: North Branford, Torrington
  • Florida: Miami Beach, Daytona Beach, Lake City
  • Massachusetts: Framingham, Holyoke, Methuen, East Longmeadow
  • New York: Manhattan (Park Ave, Lexington Ave), Middletown, Greenlawn, Plattsburgh
  • New Jersey: Marlton, Cedar Grove, Ringwood, Spring Lake Heights
  • Pennsylvania: Philadelphia, Frazer, Morrisville
  • Others: Branches in Virginia, Maine, New Hampshire, South Carolina, and Washington, D.C. will also shut down

TD Bank Will Continue Operating Nationally

Despite the closures, TD Bank remains active with over 1,100 branches still operating nationwide. Founded in 1919, the institution saw major growth during the 1950s and has become one of the country’s most recognizable financial brands.

Customers will still be able to access their accounts online and at unaffected branches. The bank has not commented on whether more closures are expected, but emphasized that the shift reflects an increased focus on digital banking and resource efficiency.
