In any of the states of the United States, each new month the Social Security schedule may vary a little, especially if we are talking about the Supplemental Security Income. This benefit arrives once a month in the pockets of Americans, but sometimes it can arrive twice in the same month. However, not all Americans can receive this double payment.
There is a fundamental requirement that must be met if we want to receive the double Supplemental Security Income check. Only by meeting this requirement is it possible to get two checks in one month, so pay attention. However, if you do not have this option activated, there is nothing to worry about. Each of the beneficiaries of this benefit receives his or her payment every month without fail.
The difference is whether they receive it earlier or later, which depends on the payment method activated. In this sense, having a specific collection method activated means that not only the Supplemental Security Income check arrives early, but also any other Social Security check. So if you want to have a good organization in the family economy, activating this option is a good idea.
Who will receive two Supplemental Security Income checks in June?
As we have already mentioned, only two groups will be able to receive the combination of two Supplemental Security Income checks in June. To do so, you must meet two essential requirements:
- Have Supplemental Security Income accepted in advance.
- Activate Direct Deposit as a payment method.
If both of these conditions are met, the Supplemental Security Income check will arrive immediately as soon as it is sent by the Social Security Administration. These two checks will arrive in June on the following days:
- June 1st.
- June 30th.
If you do not have this collection option activated, you will still receive your Supplemental Security Income check from Social Security, but a little later. With bank deposit, it can take up to 3 days for Social Security money from any government benefit to show up. So you may have to wait a little bit in that case.
So, we can conclude that the only group of retirees who do not have Direct Deposit activated will not receive the double Supplemental Security Income check in the month of June 2023.
Why does Social Security send two SSI checks in June?
The reason the Social Security Administration sends out double Supplemental Security Income payments in June is very simple. Administration workers do not work on weekends or holidays. When the 1st of the month is a weekend or holiday, the payment date changes.
The 1st is the usual day for payment of Supplemental Security Income. But when that day is a holiday or weekend, the payment is sent on the immediately preceding business day. This allows recipients of this benefit to receive it on time or even earlier.
The same may be true for the payment of pre-1997 pensioner benefits. This group is always paid on the 3rd of the month. However, when that day is a holiday or weekend, the Administration sends the payment on the immediately preceding business day.
