The first of the United States Social Security payments has already left the Administration’s offices. However, many of the beneficiaries who belong to this payment group have not gotten the money. This is due to several reasons.
In order to collect the Social Security payment today, we would have to meet a couple of requirements. We could also meet those requirements and get the money tomorrow or in the next few days.
Even so, it is true that most beneficiaries should already have the payment. If you are a Group 1 beneficiary, Social Security has already sent you a check on March 1st. But you may not have gotten it yet if you haven’t activated the faster collection method.
How do I get two Social Security checks today?
As mentioned above, the Administration has already sent the first of the March Social Security payments. Likewise, on the 1st of the month it also sent out the Supplemental Security Income. So many beneficiaries will already have both payments, but others will not.
If we want to get these two payments today or in the next few days, we will need to:
- Have had the benefit since before 1997.
- Not have Direct Deposit activated.
- Have the Supplemental Security Income benefit activated.
Those Americans with Direct Deposit activated already have the money available. This collection method is instantaneous, so the Social Security and Supplemental Security Income money arrived to these groups on the 1st.
Next payments for retirees in March 2024
After this March 1st payment, other groups will collect their Social Security checks. In total, the Administration will send three more checks to beneficiaries. By meeting the requirements we will be able to have the check.
The payment days will be March 13th, 20th and 27th. The first of the requirements, common to these three days, will be to have the benefit since after 1997. Apart from that requirement, each day has a different birthday-related requirement.
Just as for the 1st payment, the method of collection is critical to get the Social Security check as soon as possible. So if we have Direct Deposit we will get the payment immediately. If not, we will have to wait a few days until it arrives to our checking account.
