The Social Security Administration follows a schedule for United States retirement payments. This schedule is always announced before the beginning of the year, so retirees have plenty of time to get organized in advance. However, there are times when even with this advanced calendar we encounter irregularities that we did not expect.
In the month of December there are several irregularities for Social Security payments. These irregularities not only affect retirement payments, but also Supplemental Security Income payments. Therefore, we must always be very careful when organizing our finances, since we could encounter surprises in the payments.
Even so, the payment schedule has not changed since the Social Security Administration announced it at the beginning of the year. Therefore, we must follow the same calendar to determine the day on which we will get our retirement money. In that case, last 6th day could have been the payment for the second group of retirees, but this was not the case.
WHY DIDN’T I GET MY PAYMENT ON DECEMBER 6TH?
The main reason why we could not get any payment from Social Security last December 6th is because the Administration did not send any payment. This is because although we sometimes get the second of the payments on that day we are actually on the first Wednesday of the month.
The check for the second group of retirees is on the second Wednesday of the month, so we will have to wait to get our retirement check until the 13th of December. This will be the case as long as we belong to this particular group.
To belong to the second Social Security group, it is mandatory to have a birthday between the 1st and 10th of the month and to have the benefit since after 1997. Only then we can get check on this day. But remember that in the past 6th no check was sent by the Administration to any type of beneficiary.
WHEN WILL THE OTHER SOCIAL SECURITY CHECKS BE ISSUED?
After the December 13th payment day we will come across two more Social Security retirement checks. These other two checks are the third and fourth group retiree benefit payments.
The third group is post-1997 beneficiaries with birthdays between the 11th and 20th of any month. This group will have their check on the 20th day of December. The last group will be the fourth group and is for post-1997 retirees with birthdays between the 21st and 31st of any month.
After that payment the Social Security Administration will send another extra payment, but it will be a Supplemental Security Income benefit. This payment will arrive on December 29th and will be for all recipients of this check.
