SSI and Social Security retirement or disability pension checks are separate payments for United States citizens. While it is possible to receive both of these checks during the month, it is also true that not everyone who receives one payment may receive the other.
It should also be noted that it is not unusual for Social Security and SSI payments to be made on the same day. But because of some irregularities in the calendar, we may find that in one month one group receives both checks at the same time. This can be good news or bad news, depending on the individual citizen’s situation.
Ultimately, not all Americans will be able to receive SSI along with Social Security in September, but it is possible. If we have both benefits previously accepted, we only have to meet one more requirement. This requirement has to do with the group to which each retiree belongs. Depending on the group we belong to, we are going to be able to receive the payment on the same day or not.
ELIGIBILITY TO RECEIVE SSI AND SOCIAL SECURITY ON THE SAME DAY
There are certain requirements that must be met in order to receive both SSI and Social Security payments at the same time in September. Some of the requirements have to do with the calendar itself, but others have to do with the day on which the recipient usually receives a check.
On the one hand, the main requirements are to have both Supplemental Security Income and pensioner previously accepted. This is non-negotiable. If we do not have these two benefits accepted, we will not be able to receive them in September. These checks are separate, so each has its own requirements.
After that, the other fundamental requirement is to belong to the group that first receives the Social Security pension. This group is the pre-1997 retirees. If you have your benefit since before that year, in the month of September you will receive it on the 1st.
Finally, the other requirement would be to have Direct Deposit activated. This is the only way to have both payments on the 1st of September. Just by meeting these requirements it is possible to collect the maximum $914 SSI and the maximum $4,555 retirement pension.
FULL SEPTEMBER PAYMENT SCHEDULE
September payments will not only be on the 1st of the month. In addition to that, there are other payment days for both SSI and Social Security pensions. If you will not receive your payment on the 1st you are sure to receive it on one of these days:
- September 1st. September SSI payment and pension checks for pre-1997 retirees.
- September 13th. Social Security check for post-1997 retirees with birthdays between the 1st and 10th arrives on this day.
- September 20th. Retirees with birthdays between the 11th and 20th of the month and a post-1997 Social Security check are paid on this day.
- September 27th. The last Social Security group is paid on this day. The requirements are to have check from after 1997 and birthday between the 21st and 31st of the month.
- September 29th. Extra Supplemental Security Income payment for the month. This payment actually belongs to the October calendar, but it comes early.
After checking the calendar you can know exactly on what day you will have both your SSI and Social Security checks available.
