Social Security benefit checks can reach different United States citizens on different days of the month. Not only that, but United States citizens can get both Social Security and SSI in the same month. This means that the checks for these types of payments can go to many different recipients.
The important thing in these cases is to be clear about which benefits belong to you and which do not. If we are familiar with the Social Security retirement and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) payment schedule, we can mark the day of the month when we will get a new payment.
Supplemental Security Income (SSI) Changes in May 2024
And due to an irregularity in the calendar, the usual Supplemental Security Income (SSI) payment changes in May. While payments of this benefit are always on the 1st of each month, in May we will get two different checks for this Social Security payment.
Thus, the Administration has already sent the May payment on the 1st of the month. So Supplemental Security Income recipients were able to enjoy this benefit on this day without any problems.
But on the 31st of May we will see a second check pertaining to this benefit. And only a specific group of Americans will be able to enjoy the second Supplemental Security Income (SSI) payment in May. The rest will be able to get the payment in June, as usual.
Who gets the extra Supplemental Security Income (SSI) on May 31st?
In order to receive this extra Supplemental Security Income (SSI) payment on the 31st of May, you must have Direct Deposit activated. This is the only mandatory requirement in addition to having the benefit activated in advance.
If our Supplemental Security Income check is not yet accepted, we will have to wait for the next few months until the Social Security Administration accepts it 100%. If it is accepted, we should be able to get this check without any problems.
So if you have Direct Deposit activated and the Supplemental Security Income (SSI) payment accepted, in May you could have a payment on the 1st of the month and another on the 31st of the same month. Best of all, each payment can be up to $943, which means we get almost $2,000 extra in the same month of May.
