The United States Government has confirmed that thousands of Social Security beneficiaries can get up to three different checks before the end of August. This is possible only if they are eligible. In order to be eligible in these cases, certain requirements must be met.
Even so, it could be the case that we get only 1 of these checks during August. We might even get two checks in August only. It all depends on our individual situation. It also depends directly on the type of benefit we have, as well as the collection method chosen.
Based on the idea that it is possible to receive three Social Security checks within the month of August we have to keep in mind that we might get only one of them. Not all Americans get these payments. It is important to know this perfectly because many Americans may be confused about this.
In order to get all three of these payments we will have to look at the established requirements. Undoubtedly, having three Social Security checks in one month can be an advantage, but we must meet the requirements to get them.
Requirements for three Social Security payments in August
First of all we must think that if we do not have an accepted retirement we will not be able to get these three Social Security checks. It is essential to be retired in order to have three checks before the end of August 2024. If we are not retired we will have to wait until we are retired in order to get an extra payment at some point.
The requirements to be able to get three extra Social Security payments within August 2024 are:
- Have a retirement benefit, as previously discussed.
- Have accepted the Supplemental Security Income payment.
- Activate Direct Deposit as a collection method.
If we do not activate this collection method, the Social Security Administration will send checks in August, but we will not get the last of the payments until we enter September.
Schedule of Social Security payments in August
Within the month of August we will have several different checks from Social Security. We will be able to get payments on the following days.
- August 1. Supplemental Social Security payment.
- August 2. Retirement check payment for pre-May 1997 beneficiaries.
- August 14. Retirees with benefits after May 1997 who have a birthday between 1 and 10 years old collect on this day.
- August 21. Retirees with a post-May 1997 benefit who have a birthday between the 11th and 20th are paid on this day.
- August 28. Retirees with a benefit after May 1997 who have a birthday between the 21st and the 31st collect on this day.
- August 30. September Supplemental Social Security payment. The payment is early because September 1 is a weekend.
As can be seen, August 30th is the day of the September SSI collection. This is due to an irregularity and it is because of this that we can have three different checks within the same month.
