United States disability benefit payments follow a strict schedule. This schedule is the same for age retirement benefit payments. However, not all retirees generally receive a Social Security check on the same day. There are different groups, although having a disability payment or for another reason does not make a citizen fall into one group or another.
With this in mind it is easier to understand what will happen for disability retirees in one group to receive a check late in June. As we have already mentioned, each of these groups receives its benefit on a different day of the month. So by knowing which group we belong to, we can find out on which day the Social Security Administration will send us our check.
However, there is a problem with this. The method of payment has a huge influence on the day we will receive our benefit. In this regard, no matter how much we look at the Social Security disability benefit payment schedule, we will never know on what day we will have the money in our pockets.
In order to determine when we will get paid, we need to activate a particular payment method. In fact, without this collection method, the June payment may not arrive within a few days of the month and we may have to wait until July to receive it. This will happen for a specific group of Americans. Will you receive your June Social Security disability payment next month?
The group that will not receive their disability benefit in June
Among all groups of retirees in the United States, only one group of retirees will not receive a benefit in June. This is because of a slight irregularity in the timing of the payments. Basically it is because the month has started on a Thursday, which makes the Wednesdays of the month arrive later.
Since payments for post-1997 retirees arrive on the second, third and fourth Wednesdays of the month, this is bad news for them. If the Wednesdays arrive later, the payments arrive later. Therefore, we have been able to see that in this month the first of the payments has not arrived until the third week.
However, the case of the last group to receive a disability benefit may be even worse. The Social Security Administration will send this payment on the last Wednesday of the month. And, coincidentally, this Wednesday is very close to the 1st of July. To be exact, the payment day will be next June 28th. Since there is a weekend very close, citizens without Direct Deposit might have to wait until July to have the payment.
In short, citizens retired after 1997 with a birthday between the 21st and 31st belong to this group. So Social Security disability beneficiaries in that group who do not activate Direct Deposit may not receive their check within the June days. To avoid this, we must activate Direct Deposit. This is the best way to be able to have the money directly without having to wait even one day.
