Throughout each month, the Social Security Administration sends out a large number of different checks to United States citizens. Each one of these checks has a specific beneficiary and, therefore, has requirements to get it. In the next of the payments, the first of February, we will encounter a check that is only for a specific group of citizens.
This payment of $500 on average is not for all Americans. In order to get this Social Security check we need to meet two requirements. And in the case that we meet them, the truth is that we might not get it until next month if we apply for it today. So, if you don’t have this check accepted yet, next day’s payment won’t arrive.
If you already have this benefit accepted, which is Supplemental Security Income, the check may arrive from Social Security on February 1st, if you have activated the faster collection option.
On the other hand, it is also true that the average payment is $500, but this does not mean that all recipients of this check will get such a high amount. Some beneficiaries get that amount and other beneficiaries get another amount. It all depends on each individual situation.
Who will get the new $500 Social Security stimulus check?
In order to get this benefit, we must have accepted it in advance, as we have already mentioned above. In order to do so, we must have applied for the check by meeting specific requirements. These requirements are 2 in total and many Americans who meet them do not know it.
So it is possible that you have access to this check but do not apply for it because you do not know that Social Security could send it to you every month. The two requirements are:
- Have low monthly income.
- Be 65 or older or have a disability.
Meeting these two requirements is enough to be eligible to get the check. The average payment of $500 can be much higher, up to $943. This will depend on each individual situation.
As for the date, the payment date for this benefit is always the 1st of each month, except for exceptions and irregularities in the calendar. In the month of February there are no irregularities in this regard, so we will have the money on the 1st if we have activated Direct Deposit.
Can I increase my Supplemental Security Income benefit?
It is possible to increase your Social Security Supplemental Security Income check, but that would not be good news. The amount of this benefit depends directly on your monthly income. That is, the more income you have, the less your Supplemental Security Income benefit.
Therefore, it could be good news if we stop getting this benefit or if your check decreases in some way. In this regard, the maximum check of $943 per month is reserved only for the neediest Americans. So yes you can get a higher payment, but you can’t do anything to expressly get it.
So whatever amount you’re waiting for, come February 1st you’ll have access to this Social Security stimulus check to use for whatever you need. And remember to activate Direct Deposit for immediate payment.
