With a payment schedule announced in advance, United States Social Security beneficiaries can know which day they will get each check. This is a great advantage, and thanks to this we will be able to organize our economy in a straightforward way. Even so, it is true that not all Americans get all the checks.
In order to get a check of almost 1,000 dollars in just a few weeks we must take into account several aspects. There are mandatory requirements to collect this payment from Social Security. However, if we do not get this check, it does not mean that we cannot get a different one.
This means that the Social Security Administration sends out a large number of checks each month. And each of these checks is for a different group of Americans. So pay attention to the requirements for each of the payments and see which one you can get and apply for.
In case we don’t get this check, just taking a look at the upcoming Social Security payments is more than enough. Each payment has its requirements, so it is easy to know which group of retirees we belong to and when we will get our benefit.
Who can get almost $1,000 from Social Security?
The Social Security Administration doesn’t just send retirement checks to United States citizens. In addition to the payment for disability beneficiaries and those over age 62, the Administration sends out another type of monthly check. This other check is almost $1,000 and is only for the neediest beneficiaries.
If you have an accepted Supplemental Security Income benefit, you could get this new check. What’s more, all the checks for this benefit go out on the same day to beneficiaries. Therefore, all Americans with this benefit can collect on the same day. Although this really depends on the collection method we have chosen to get the money.
With this in mind, what we should do is take a good look at the calendar. Social Security Supplemental Security Income payments are always sent on the 1st of each month. Therefore, in the upcoming month of March we will have a payment of $943 maximum of this benefit on the 1st of that month.
This is always the case, with some exceptions. When the 1st of the month is a holiday or weekend, the Administration sends the check on the immediately preceding business day. In this case, there are no exceptions, so this Social Security benefit arrives on the 1st to everyone with Direct Deposit. If you do not have this active, the payment will arrive a few days later.
Eligibility for Supplemental Security Income
Not all Americans can get this monthly Social Security benefit. There are two mandatory requirements to get one of these checks. The two requirements are:
- Be 65 years of age or have a disability.
- Have low resources and low monthly income.
It is mandatory to prove both requirements with official documents. Likewise, it is not necessary to have a Social Security retirement check to apply for this benefit. What is necessary is to meet both requirements.
On the other hand, it is also important to note that both benefits are compatible. Therefore, we can have both the monthly Social Security check and the Supplemental Security Income check to enjoy a little extra money each month.
